On September 21 and 22 experts Carlos Alario PhD (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid) and Eng. Miguel Morales (Universidad Galileo) visited Universidad del Cauca in Popayan, Colombia member of the MOOC-Maker project to impart the teaching and technical training workshops; the experts were supported by Gustavo Ramirez PhD who represents Unicauca in the project.
The main purpose of the MOOC-Maker project is to develop capabilities for the management and production of MOOCs, thus the purpose of these workshops is to train teachers and technical staff of the Latin American partners.
The workshops were developed through practical and collaborative activities. In the teacher training workshop the following topics were developed:
- I want a MOOC [What it is needed to manage a MOOC]
- Designing my MOOC [MOOC Model Canvas]
- Producing my MOOC [Production of audiovisual material and other learning materials]
During the technical training workshop, participants learned about general configuration, implementation of learning resources, forums settings, among other topics offered Open EDX platform that will be used to develop and promote MOOCs created by MOOC-Maker partners.
One of the expected results of the MOOC-Maker project is the creation and implementation of 6 MOOCs and the minimum enrollment of 10, 000 participants; these MOOCs will be aimed at training on issues of basic skills that enable participants to improve their training to promote a better employment.
